"Geotechnics of Siberia 2025"

The First Siberian (Baikal) International Geotechnical Conference "Geotechnics of Siberia 2025" took place in Ulan-Ude from September 12 to 16, 2025.

The First Siberian (Baikal) Geotechnical Conference was organized by the Association of Siberian Geotechnicians (T-voSibGt-v) under the auspices of the Russian Society for Soil Mechanics, Geotechnics, and Foundation Engineering (RSSMGF), in cooperation with the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Utilities Modernization of the Republic of Buryatia and the Ulan-Ude City Administration.

GROSF LLC served as the general sponsor of the conference and participated in its organization. The event was held in a hybrid format: in-person on September 12 at the Chinggis Khan Hotel conference hall, and online via the Yandex Telemost platform on September 12, 15, and 16. Additionally, the sessions were broadcast live on the "Siberian Geotechnicians Association" RuTube channel, where recordings of all conference presentations are available for viewing.

Conference objectives:

1. Discussion of current issues regarding construction on weak and permafrost soils, scientific and technical support, engineering-geological and geotechnical surveys, structural dynamics and seismic-resistant construction, as well as other areas of foundation engineering and geotechnics.

2. Organizing and facilitating networking among researchers, practicing geotechnical engineers, designers, construction professionals, experts from review agencies, and operations personnel to exchange experience in addressing complex challenges in modern foundation engineering.

More than 270 specialists and researchers from 21 regions of the Russian Federation and 10 countries—Azerbaijan, Belarus, India, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Korea, Mongolia, Poland, Syria, and Uzbekistan—participated in the First Siberian (Baikal) Geotechnical Conference. The conference program featured over 70 presentations, including 22 keynote lectures, 15 invited talks, and 20 session presentations. In addition, 15 poster presentations were displayed, and 9 online presentations were delivered.

More than 30 professors and Doctors of Science presented papers. The sessions were moderated by L.V. Nuzhdin and O.A. Shulyatyev, A.I. Polishchuk and M.B. Marinichev, and A.B. Ponomarev and Ya.A. Pronozin. M.L. Nuzhdin, Research Director at GROSF LLC, served on the conference organizing committee and presented a paper titled "Soil Foundation Reinforcement via Injection of Expanding Geotechnical Polymer Resins."
